A Push Hands workshop will be held at the Long Island School of Tai-chi-Chuan on Saturday, Sept. 27th. This two person exercise is the heart of Tai-chi training. This workshop will focus on the use of internal energy (chi), incorporating all the Tai-chi principles, the application of each of those principles to daily life, neutralizing force directed against you and uniting mind and body.
We will also explore how Push Hands training is essential in learning “internal” martial arts and learn to apply the techniques and principles to self defense. The early evening will be reserved for open Push Hands practice.
This all day course will be taught by Bob Klein, his wife Jean and will be assisted by the senior students of the school. Price of this workshop includes lunch at a nearby Thai restaurant.

This course will bring you well beyond the beginning “Push Hands Forms” (repeated series of movements), allow you to practice this exercise spontaneously and to perceive the pattern of your partner’s attention so you will know his intentions before they manifest into action.
You will learn to detect the state of readiness of each of your partner’s muscles and joints and take advantage of gaps in his attention. Attention exercises will be taught to greatly increase the strength, agility, resolution and stamina of your attention. It is safe to say that the perspective of Push Hands you receive here, you will get nowhere else.
